The Forcast-----Sunny And Happy

Tuesday, November 10, 2009

Last year I ran in the Genesis Battlegreen 10k/Ralph Lord 5k in Lexington, Ma.. Last year it was wet, chilly and windy. Though it was a great race the day itself seemed to keep the excitement level a bit muted. This year, however, it was sunny and 55 degrees on race day (November 1). What a difference sunshine can make. Elyse, in the black top, Kathy, in the blue, and Gladys, in the white, added to the day with their smiles and friendly personalities. We all exchanged stories about that race and the year before agreeing that, if we had our choice, we'd pick the sunny and warm over the cold and wet every time. Gladys not only won her age division that day but took a 2nd place a week later in a Wakefield 5k. Getting to meet them that day made it a winning day for me. As many of you reading these entries know, I go to these races to meet the people and add to the stories in my life. Lexington was a great chapter in my life's book.
